Семейство шрифтов, объединенных общим дизайном.
Определенный стиль шрифта. В компьютерных системах, как правило, используются четыре начертания шрифтов: 1. Тип Roman, пропорциональный, с засечками (например, Times Roman). Данный тип является наиболее удобочитаемым и чаще всего встречается в издательской продукции. Не рекомендуется применять данные шрифты с подчеркиванием. Вместо этого текст лучше выделять курсивом или полужирным. 2. Тип Sans-Serif, пропорциональный, без засечек (например, Geneva и Helvetica). Лучше всего данный тип применять в коротких заметках, наклейках и т.д. 3. Шрифт с фиксированной шириной символов, подобный пишущей машинке (например, Courier). Как правило, применяется при печати листингов программ, финансовых таблиц и при использовании простейших принтеров. 4. Новые шрифты, разработанные под старину (типа Old English). Обычно используются для придания тексту оригинального вида. Применять такие шрифты для печати больших текстов не рекомендуется из-за их низкой удобочитаемости.
